It was reported on Thursday night that Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera has been diagnosed with lymph node cancer. Rivera, who joined Washington in January, has had a large impact on the NFL throughout his career as a player and coach.

From winning a Super Bowl with the Chicago Bears to a successful nine-year run as head coach of the Carolina Panthers, his football family stems far and wide. So it was no surprise that following the news, the NFL community offered its support to Rivera.

The Washington Football Team shared a message of love for the head coach and his family, as did new team President Jason Wright and offensive assistant Jennifer King.

The Carolina Panthers tweeted their motto "#KeepPounding," which Rivera embodied during his time with the team. Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson, who played under Rivera for five seasons, let his former coach know he is thinking of him and is confident he'll win his battle with cancer.

More of Rivera's former teams, the Chicago Bears and his alma mater the University of California, tweeted out words of strength to honor a member of their past.
