The Washington Football Team's Week 3 loss was difficult enough to swallow, so they certainly didn't need their prized rookie out a significant period of time.
Fortunately for them and their fans, it appears Chase Young's groin injury is not considered serious. After the young pass rusher hinted that he'd be back on the field soon, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on the severity of the injury.
"This does not seem to me based on the people I've spoken with, like a major injury for Chase Young," Rapoport said. "He's going to have some more tests [Monday], get an MRI, see what the full extent of this injury is.
"But even though he was ruled out immediately, which usually is a bad sign, this is not something that's considered to take him off the field for a long time."
Rapoport also mentioned that with a matchup with the Ravens looming, it's too early to determine Young's status for that game. Considering the Ravens' rushing attack and Lamar Jackson's ability to extend plays and give defenses different looks, having an uber-athletic defensive lineman to set the edge and contain Jackson in the pocket would be beneficial.
Washington's injury report this week in practice should be one to keep a close eye on.
