Eagles head coach Doug Pederson’s job status is reportedly in question, as he and owner Jeffrey Lurie are set to meet soon.
According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen and Tim McManus, Lurie has expressed concerns that extend beyond the quarterback calamity that occurred when Pederson benched Jalen Hurts for Nate Sudfeld during the second half of the Eagles’ Week 17 loss to Washington.
Mortensen reported via Twitter on Sunday that, “Pederson could be out if owner Jeffrey Lurie is not confident about Pederson’s vision going forward after the two meet again soon.”
Pederson, who led the Eagles to a Super Bowl championship in 2018, received league-wide criticism following his decision to give a third-string quarterback in Sudfeld playing time in a game with playoff implications for other teams.
That criticism extended to his own locker room and was not the only point of contention surrounding the Eagles’ fifth-year head coach.
Adding to Pederson's woes: The Eagles finished the season 4-11-1.
