Though Washington's interest in acquiring former Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford has been widely reported, NFL Network reported on Sunday morning the team also made some calls for the QB included in the Stafford deal, Jared Goff.Â
The reporting came on the back of the NFL Comeback Player of the Year, Alex Smith, not knowing exactly where his future lies.

Washington reportedly reached out to Los Angeles to inquire about Goff's availability before he was included in a blockbuster move for 33-year-old Stafford. Washington also pursued Stafford, but an extra first-round pick put the Rams offer over the edge.
Those talks obviously never came to fruition, as the Rams ended up using their young QB as the centerpiece for acquiring a more accomplished pass thrower like Stafford.
Washington is also weighing the Sam Darnold option, NFL Network also reported. The Jets, however, have yet to express any desire to deal away their third overall pick in the 2018 draft.Â
