Washington Football Team defensive end Montez Sweat did not travel with the squad to Foxboro, Mass. for its preseason opener vs. the New England Patriots.
First reported by The Athletic's Ben Standig and later confirmed by Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post, Sweat did not make the trip due to illness but has not been placed on the team’s COVID-19 reserved list. Washington will take on the Patriots on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in its first action of the 2021 preseason.
Along with Sweat, fellow defensive end Casey Toohill also did not make the trip due to a toe injury.
