The Washington Football Team requested an interview with Titans Vice President of Player Personnel Ryan Cowden, a source with knowledge of the situation informed NBC Sports Washington.
Cowden has been in Tennessee since 2016 and worked with the Carolina Panthers prior to that. In Carolina, Cowden served as the Assistant Director of College Scouting.
It's no secret that Washington is looking to add a general manager this offseason and presumably Cowden could be a candidate for that job.
That Cowden has ties to Ron Rivera from their days with the Panthers makes sense. That means Cowden also has ties to Washington's Senior VP of Football Administration Rob Rogers as well as most of the coaching staff and that could bolster his candidacy.
An NFL scout since 2000, Cowden would have the type of experience it's believed Rivera wants in his GM.
Currently Washington is without a true general manager, but it's also important to point out that Rivera is the de facto football boss.
Washington has deployed a coach-centric model for the franchise, and Rivera and team owner Dan Snyder will have ultimate say on the GM hire.
