Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields still take the top two quarterback prospect spots for the 2021 NFL Draft, but there's a new name flying up draft boards.
Get to know BYU quarterback Zach Wilson because NFL talent evaluators are already well aware.
Wilson has led the Cougars to an 8-0 record while completing 75 percent of his passes with 22 touchdowns against just two interceptions. He has prototype NFL size at 6-foot-3 and 210 lbs. and the type of pocket presence that scouts love on the pro level while still able to run.
And the hype train is building, particularly after BYU demolished 21st-ranked Boise State on Friday night by a final score of 51-17. Wilson threw for 359 yards and two TDs in that game while completing 21 of 27 throws.
Former Washington Football quarterback Joe Theismann was ahead of the curve on Wilson. The Washington legend joined The Junkies last week and talked about the BYU prospect.
"The kid that I'm in love with is Zach Wilson at BYU," Theismann said on Wednesday, before Wilson's impressive Friday night performance.
"He almost looks like he's as quick as Kyler Murray, he's 6-foot-3, runs very well, tremendous touch on the ball, wonderful pocket presence. And this isn't based on one game it's three games I've watched. I'm enamored with him," Theismann said.
It's very, very possible Washington is shopping for a new quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft.
There are plenty of good options - Lawrence, Fields, Trey Lance, but Wilson is firmly in the conversation now.
