Dwayne Haskins Jr. keeps racking up high profile endorsements; the latest coming from Grammy-nominated Rapper and DC native Wale. One week after Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera named Dwayne Haskins Jr. the starting quarterback entering the 2020 NFL season, the second-year QB is now getting another glaring endorsement; this time in fantasy football.
In a tweet early on Sunday, Wale shared a picture of his fantasy football team that showed Haskins as his starting QB while Arizona Cardinals signal-caller Kyler Murray remained on the bench. Based on the font used in Wale's tweet, it’s obvious this was in response to the chiding the rapper received for starting Haskins over his fellow 2019 draft pick.
It comes as no surprise that Wale, being a well-recognized albeit informal ambassador for Washington Football, would be in the young QB’s corner. Beyond attending games, Wale has attended practices, hosted viewing parties, and was spotted throwing passes at one of Haskins’ off-season workouts.
He believes in the young QB and he should. Haskins has been impressive in the transition between his rookie and sophomore seasons. Most insiders would say this is the most important phase of an NFL quarterback’s career.
The ultimate measure of his success, whether in real life or fantasy football, will begin to reveal itself on September 13th in Washington's Week 1 home matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
