Ryan Fitzpatrick ruled out vs. Chargers with hip injury

Ryan Fitzpatrick's debut with the Washington Football Team ended prematurely, as the veteran quarterback exited the game in the second quarter with a hip injury.

Originally ruled as questionable to return, Fitzpatrick was ruled out during the halftime intermission. Taylor Heinicke came in to replace Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick was injured after being hit by Chargers linebacker Uchenna Nwosu after he beat Washington left tackle Charles Leno Jr. on the snap. The 38-year-old QB initially was able to get up following the hit before returning to the ground. He was met by the medical staff shortly after before walking off the field.

Washington's No. 3 quarterback, Kyle Allen, is inactive and not eligible to play. It will be Heinicke under center the rest of the game for Washington. Fitzpatrick finished the game 3-of-6 for 13 yards.
