Washington Football Team running back Antonio Gibson has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers with a toe injury.
The rookie left Monday's upset win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first quarter after reportedly suffering a "painful case" of turf toe. Washington turned to Peyton Barber and J.D. McKissic for backfield duties to finish the game, a combination likely to see a lot of action again Sunday.

Barber led the team with 14 carries for 23 yards and a touchdown in the victory. McKissic had a team-high 10 receptions and totaled 84 yards between his catches and five rush attempts.

Gibson's injury came on the heels of a huge performance against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving. The third-round pick out of Memphis ran for 115 yards and a season-high three touchdowns. He leads Washington this season with 659 rush yards and 11 touchdowns.
Washington is currently tied atop the NFC East with the New York Giants at 5-7, with the Giants holding the tie-breaker. New York hosts the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
