Washington is ‘trying to be smart’ with Chase Young hip flexor injury

Chase Young was removed from Wednesday’s practice for the Washington Football Team and head coach Ron Rivera says the team is being careful so that the hip flexor injury doesn't become a multi-day issue.

Rivera also said the team “is trying to be smart” with Young.

Young started practice and took part in some individual work before he was held out from the remainder of the day. At that point he stood on the sidelines with what looked like an ice pack taped to his left hip.

Obviously protecting Young is paramount for the organization.

The second overall pick is expected to make a major contribution to the Washington defense this fall and already looked explosive on Tuesday during the team’s first padded practice.

As a college player at Ohio State last season Young dominated, logging 16.5 sacks in 12 games and was widely considered the best defensive prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft.
