Washington vs. Green Bay Packers Week 7 inactives

Football Team

The number of players on the Washington Football Team's injury report continues to lengthen by the week.

Washington will be without its biggest free-agent signing on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, as cornerback William Jackson III was ruled out with a knee injury. Jackson has played in all six games for Washington this season and has recorded one interception on the year.

With Jackson sidelined, Washington's cornerback room is significantly thin -- not typically the recipe for success against Green Bay star Aaron Rodgers. Kendall Fuller and rookie Benjamin St-Juste will start on the outside for Washington, but the team's other three cornerbacks -- Troy Apke, Corn Elder and Danny Johnson -- have combined for zero defensive snaps this season.

On the offensive side of the football, Washington will be without wide receivers Curtis Samuel (groin) and Cam Sims (hamstring) for a second consecutive week. Earlier this week, the team signed second-year wideout Antonio Gandy-Golden from its practice squad to the active roster.

Samuel has played in just two games for Washington this season (30 total offensive snaps) as his groin injury has bothered him since June. The 24-year-old missed Washington's first three games of the season while on Injured Reserve before returning in Week 4 vs. Atlanta. He's set to miss his second straight game this week after re-aggravating the groin against the Saints, but head coach Ron Rivera said this week he doesn't plan on placing Samuel on IR again.

Washington will also be down two starting offensive linemen, too. All-Pro guard Brandon Scherff (knee) is set to miss his third straight game, while rookie right tackle Sam Cosmi (ankle) is out for the second consecutive week. Wes Schweitzer will start at right guard for Washington, with veteran Cornelius Lucas next to him at right tackle.

On the bright side, Washington running back Antonio Gibson (shin) is active. Gibson has been playing through a stress fracture in his shin and was forced to leave last week's loss to the Chiefs early, but the running back was a limited participant in practice this week and appears ready to go. Earlier this week, offensive coordinator Scott Turner said he didn't envision Gibson needing to be on a snap count, so the second-year rusher should be able to handle his full workload.

For Green Bay, the Packers will be without two key defensive starters, as pass rusher Preston Smith, an ex-WFT player, and cornerback Kevin King are both inactive. Additionally, All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander will not be suiting up for the Packers as he remains on Injured Reserve with a shoulder injury.
