Washington Wolves name is heavy favorite in recent team poll

The quest for a new team name inside of FedExField has already been a long, yet interesting one. The Washington Football Team has made the brainstorming process even more intriguing by launching the site WashingtonJourney.com, which allows fans all across the nation to submit what they believe the next name and design of the franchise should be.

Recently, the Team posted a poll to their site with the simple question: What's your favorite fan submission so far? The four options listed were the Wolves, Alliance, Red Tails and Seals.

The Washington Wolves garnered the most votes...by a lot.

As you can see, the Wolves are the overwhelming favorites sitting at 86.64 percent of fan votes as of Tuesday evening, while the next closest is the Alliance with 6.9 percent of fan votes.

This Wolves concept was created by Daniel Hopkins whose goal was to combine the original Burgundy & Gold tradition with a new, fierce identity.

"I made the primary one as an angry wolf drawn at an angle to show its fierce growl as it pounces on its prey. I gave it the usual team colors burgundy and gold to represent the present," Hopkins said. "I also added old color used by WSH, old burgundy (called Pohutukawa) and old gold, to represent the past. But then I added a new color to the palette, blood orange, to represent the future of the team."
