Washington Football Team quarterback Kyle Allen was carted off the field in the first quarter against the New York Giants on Sunday after suffering a gruesome ankle injury.
Allen's replacement at quarterback is Alex Smith, who is one of the few people who knows every emotion Allen is going through.
Nearly two years ago, Smith suffered a life-threatening leg injury on the same FedExField turf.
As Allen was leaving the field, it was Smith who looked on and was standing closest to the cart.
Take a look.
Smith, who needed 17 total surgeries following his injury, made a remarkable comeback earlier this year when he replaced Allen in Week 5. He's served as Washington's backup since that matchup with second-year QB Dwayne Haskins relegated to third-string.
Washington trailed 10-0 when Allen was injured.
