Washington's fourth consecutive win on Sunday, this one against the 49ers, propelled the team to sole possession of first place in the NFC East. Still, the Giants hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over Washington and the new-look, Jalen Hurts-led Eagles could cause trouble these final three weeks of the NFL season.
That means Washington's mission to win the NFC East for the first time since 2015 is far from a formality. Should Washington finish second in the division, they'll still have a shot at making it into one of the extended remaining spots.
With Sunday's win, Washington also created some breathing room between themselves and the Detroit Lions. The Lions would hold the tiebreaker between the two sides after winning their Week 10 matchup.
Here's a look at the current NFC Wild Card picture.
