Joe Burrow will miss his second straight preseason game Friday against the Washington Football Team, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed.
"Not playing Burrow this week," Taylor told reporters after practice Monday. "That's my Week 2 update. He's the only one I would rule out today."
This was an expected move by the Bengals, as Burrow continues to work his way back from an ACL injury he suffered last year against Washington in Week 11. Burrow is still expected to be Cincinnati's Week 1 starter this season.
In the meantime, backup Brandon Allen will get the start on Friday at FedExField. Filling in for Burrow last season, Allen went 1-4 as the starting quarterback with the only win coming against a Texans team that won four games.
Suffice to say, this could be a good day to watch the Washington defense go to work.
Washington's second preseason game starts at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, with coverage beginning on NBC Sports Washington at 7 p.m.
