Beginning last Sunday and continuing this weekend, NBC Sports Washington is airing classic local high school football games from the Monumental Vault.
The second game of this series, produced by Monumental Sports & Entertainment, takes us back to last October to relive the five-overtime classic between Gonzaga and Good Counsel.
Gonzaga entered the road matchup as the top-ranked team in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference but left with its first loss of the season. In what was thought to be an upset at the time, Good Counsel beat Gonzaga 42-35 when senior and now-Michigan freshman Kris Jenkins knocked down Oklahoma commit Caleb Williams' fourth-down pass to end the game.
We know now that it wasn't such an upset, as Good Counsel went on to win the WCAC title, including another win over Gonzaga in the playoff semifinals. But that doesn't take away from how awesome this Oct. 11, 2019, matchup was, and here's all you need to know in order to tune in.
