Long Beach State cruises past UC Irvine 81-59

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) James Ennis scored 17 points, including five 3-pointers, and Dan Jennings added 14 to lead Long Beach State to its sixth straight win, 81-59 over UC Irvine on Saturday.

Ennis was 6 of 9 from the field, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range, and matched his team-leading scoring average. Jennings pulled down seven rebounds for the 49ers (11-8, 7-1 Big West), who shot 57 percent from the floor and 58 percent from beyond the arc.

Will Davis II led the Anteaters (10-11, 4-4) with 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Chris McNealy scored 10.

Irvine stayed close throughout the first half and trailed just 37-35 after Alex Young's 3-pointer a minute after halftime. But the Anteaters ran out of gas later in the second half, and Long Beach State's 15-3 run turned a 59-52 lead into 74-55.

Long Beach State has won its last five meetings with UC Irvine.

Blair scores 21 to lift Georgetown over SMU

DALLAS — Jahvon Blair matched his career-high with 21 points as Georgetown defeated SMU 91-74 on Saturday night.

Mac McClung had 19 points and seven assists for Georgetown (6-3). Omer Yurtseven added 19 points and Jamorko Pickett had 11 for the visitors.

Kendric Davis had 17 points for the Mustangs (8-1), whose eight-game season-opening winning streak ended. Feron Hunt added 17 points. Tyson Jolly had 16 points and six rebounds.

Georgetown plays Syracuse at home next Saturday. SMU takes on Georgia on the road next Friday.

RICHMOND, Va. — Marcus Santos-Silva posted 13 points as VCU topped Old Dominion 69-57 on Saturday night.

Issac Vann had 10 points for VCU (7-2). Marcus Evans added 10 points. De'Riante Jenkins had six rebounds for the hosts.

Malik Curry had 11 points for the Monarchs (3-7), who have now lost six games in a row. Xavier Green added 11 points. Dajour Dickens had 10 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.

VCU plays Missouri State at home next Sunday. Old Dominion matches up against Illinois on the road next Saturday.
