Former Maryland punter Nathan Renfro will transfer to Tennessee and be eligible to play immediately, made official this week with the release of the team's summer football roster.
Multiple media outlets had reported the news prior to it becoming official.
It was thought that Renfro, a native of Brentwood, Tenn., would return home after graduating in December and prepare for graduate school, according to Edsall, without necessarily expending his final year of college eligibility.
“He came in to see me and he just said that, ‘Coach, I’ve decided that I’m going to be done,’” Edsall said during a conference call with the media at the time.
“We appreciate everything that he’s done and gonna help him do whatever we can do to help where he wants to go with his career after graduation.”
Renfro appeared in all 13 games for the Terrapins last season and averaged 41.5 yards per punt. He was also named to the All-Big Ten Academic list.
