Former Maryland defensive back Sean Davis made a splash early in Saturday's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
On a pass out in the flat, Davis closed on former Ohio State tight end Nick Vannett. As Vannett turned around after catching the pass, Davis was there driving through his at waist level to make the tackle. It appeared Davis shifted his weight, which lifted Vannett off of his feet. The former Terrapin then drove him into the ground to finish the tackle.
Take a look:
In his final season at Maryland, Davis moved from safety to cornerback. The move was mostly about need for Maryland, but his combination of size and tackling ability make him an interesting NFL prospect.
He still has his struggles as a cover corner, but he excels as a tackler. As a junior at the safety position, he routinely led the team in tackles in a given game.
