Alexander Ovechkin has already brought one championship to D.C. Now, he may be a part of bringing another one home, just not the one you're probably thinking of.
Ovechkin was on hand for Game 4 of the NLDS between the Nationals and Dodgers, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. A few hours later, the Nats picked up the season-saving win to force a Game 5 on Wednesday.
Sure, Max Scherzer was dominant and Ryan Zimmerman provided some pop on offense, but can we really deny the theory that Ovi could be the team's good luck charm? Even the Capitals start himself think his magic may be rubbing off.
If you need further proof, the last time Ovechkin threw out a pitch, or two, at the Nationals game the home team came away with the victory.
The Capitals don't have a game Wednesday before heading to Nashville on Thursday. It may be hard for Ovi to get there, but if the Nats pull out a win and earn more home games, it may be beneficial to let him throw out the first pitch again.
