The Baltimore Orioles began a three-game series against the New York Yankees Monday night. Here's the latest news and notes surrounding the team.

Player Updates:

After losing 9-6 against the New York Yankees, the Baltimore Orioles weren't playing around. The O's optioned RHP Jimmy Yacabonis, who holds a 6.98 ERA over 28 appearances, to Triple-A Norfolk. A corresponding move will be announced before tomorrow's game.

Despite the agonizing loss, Jonathan Villar was on fire. The second baseman became the fifth MLB player to hit for the cycle this season, and the first for the Orioles since 2009. Villar came at-bat in the ninth needing a single against Aroldis Chapman to complete the feat and make history. To no surprise, the slugger pulled it off with grace.
