To say the O's have had an atrocity of a season, at this point, would be quite repetitive. However, history was made Wednesday night against the Kansas City Royals...just not the good kind.

Top of the third inning, Orioles up 3-0 on the Royals, Whit Merrifield crushed a fastball over the left-center-field wall to make it 3-1. This homer marked the 258th surrendered by the O's on the season, tying the 2015 Cincinnati Reds for most allowed in a single season.

A more intriguing wrinkle in this record is that the Orioles allowed nearly a quarter of their homers to the New York Yankees. In the 19 games they've faced off this season, the Yankees went yard 61 times - which is also the most home runs against one team in a single season.

With 35 games remaining on their schedule it'd take a miracle for the O's to not claim sole possession of most home runs allowed in a single season.
