Bryce Harper blows kiss to Nationals fans

It’s been three years since Bryce Harper left D.C. and signed a 13-year deal with the Philadelphia Phillies, but Nationals fans haven’t let him forget his decision to leave. The former NL MVP hears nothing but boos every time he steps to the plate at Nationals Park and Tuesday night was no different.

This time, Harper repaid the favor by hitting a solo home run off Nationals reliever Javy Guerra to put the Phillies up 5-2 in the top of the eighth. It was his 10th home run against his former team, and this time he blew a kiss to the fans as he crossed home plate.

Harper has done this before. When he was in Single-A, Harper hit a deep home run off Greensboro Grasshoppers pitcher Zachary Neal. After taking a few seconds to admire the long ball, Harper caught an earful from Neal. The outfielder didn’t retort with any words but blew a kiss in the pitcher’s direction instead.

The Phillies eventually won the game 5-4, giving them two straight wins over the Nationals to begin their four-game series. With the win, the Phillies maintained their hold of the second-place spot in the NL East while the Nationals sit in fourth having traded several key players at the deadline.
