Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated on Thursday that pitcher Trevor Bauer will still make his scheduled start on Sunday against the Nationals despite Bauer being under investigation by Major League Baseball and the Pasadena Police Department.
Bauer's investigation comes on the heals of assault allegations, first reported by The Athletic.
Roberts explained that until the league makes a decision regarding Bauer, it is "out of our hands."
"I'm in the position of following the lead of Major League Baseball. Their recommendation was for us to -- he was our scheduled starter Sunday, and to move forward and to have him start that game on Sunday, Roberts said to the media. "And so for me to try to read into it anymore outside of just following what they had advised me and us to do, I just choose to kind of follow their lead.
Bauer (8-5, 2.39 ERA) is scheduled to start the fourth and final game of Washington's series vs. Los Angeles. The Nationals are winners of four straight games and enter Thursday just two games back of the first place New York Mets.
