Even six-time NFL Super Bowl champion Tom Brady thinks Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo's ejection on Sunday was crazy.
After SportsCenter posted that Rizzo was ejected for not wearing a mask on Instagram - a post that has since been corrected with an updated caption in light of umpire Joe West's postgame comments - Brady commented, "We've lost our minds."
Usually with ballparks filled with fans hollering at umpires' every call, it would be difficult to hear someone from the front office luxury suites complain. Whatever Rizzo was yelling, it must have really gotten to head umpire Joe West.
“I wouldn’t take that from a player. I wouldn’t take that from a manager," West told the Associated Press. "If it was Donald Trump, I’d eject him, too. But I’d still vote for him.”
No matter the reason for Rizzo's ejection, getting tossed a day after signing your multi-year contract extension as the World Series champs plummet was certainly an odd story. It adds to a year of seemingly never-ending craziness.
