Well, it happened. Bryce Harper stepped into the batter's box at Nationals Park as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies for the very first time.
On Tuesday night, Harper made his return to Washington, D.C. to face the Nationals for the first time in an opposing uniform. Thousands in the stands and even more watching at home were all waiting to see what sort of reaction he would get.
Harper, batting third in the lineup, strolled up to the plate in the top of the first inning to face former teammate Max Scherzer. Earlier Tuesday, Harper took to Instagram to thank the Nationals and their fans for all the great memories. In the note, Harper mentioned that he is expecting a lot of boos, but will never forget all the cheers.
This is what the reaction sounded like.
Then Harper stepped in and faced Scherzer.

With two men on base due to a single and an error, Harper had a chance to do some damage against his former team. Scherzer quickly got ahead with two lively fastballs before the count evened at 2-2. In round 1 of Scherzer vs. Harper, it was Mad Max who came out on top as he got Harper to swing through a changeup for the strikeout.
