Nationals to open season vs. Mets for sixth time at Citi Field


The Washington Nationals will open the 2022 season on Thursday, March 31 at Citi Field against the New York Mets for the sixth time since the inception of the franchise in 2005. 

The NL East rivals will be opening the season against each other for the second straight season after the Mets came to Nationals Park to kick off the 2021 campaign. Washington returns home for their home opener on April 4 vs. Philadelphia. 

A three-game series against the Phillies and four-game home series welcoming the Mets back to town from April 4-6 and April 7-10, respectively, for a tough opening 12 games against NL East competition. In total, Washington will host 12 homestands, including the final six games of the season from Sept 26.-Oct. 2 when the Braves and Phillies visit. 

Trea Turner and the Dodgers come to Nationals Park May 23-25. 

The 17th season of the Battle of the Beltway begins in Baltimore July 21-22 and returns to the nation's capital Sept. 13-14, three West Coast trips, and 21 of the final 27 games being against divisional foes highlights the remainder of next season's schedule.
