The Nationals will have to wait three more hours than anticipated to begin their 2022 season.

Thursday afternoon's Opening Day game against the New York Mets has been delayed three hours due to inclement weather, the team announced. Instead of the 4 p.m. scheduled start time, it will begin at 7.

Patrick Corbin will take the ball against Mets starter Tylor Megill, who's pitching in place of the injured Jacob deGrom. Nationals manager Davey Martinez hasn't announced his pitching plans past Friday, when Josiah Gray will face Max Scherzer in the latter's return to D.C.

Scherzer was a candidate to start for the Mets in the opener after deGrom was sidelined, but a hamstring injury he suffered in spring training required him to take one extra day to heal up.
