More shuffling from the Nationals.
They agreed to a one-year deal with veteran outfielder Gerardo Parra on Thursday. Parra, 32, started the season with San Francisco before being released by the Giants.
Outfielder Andrew Stevenson (back spasms) was moved to the 10-day injured list, which opened a 25-man roster spot. Reliever Jimmy Cordero was designated for assignment to open a 40-man roster spot.
Parra has spent 11 years in the major leagues playing for five teams. He's an excellent defender and .277 career hitter. He will slide in as the fourth outfielder for the next two days.
What happens Saturday will be interesting. Juan Soto (back spasms) is expected to come off the 10-day injured list. When he's activated, the Nationals could carry five outfielders (Victor Robles, Michael A. Taylor, Adam Eaton, Soto and Parra) and make a move from their infield choices (Jake Noll, possibly). Or, they could make a significant change in the outfield if they no longer see a place for Taylor's struggling bat.
