Prince’s Prop: Brett Anderson Over 2.5 strikeouts (-150)
The Nationals are in Milwaukee on Friday to start a three-game set against one of the best and hottest teams in baseball. The Brewers have the NL Central and a top-two seed in the pennant chase all but locked up and continue to cruise with an 8-2 record in their last 10 games.
Lefty Brett Anderson takes the mound Friday for Milwaukee, and while he’s been maybe the least exceptional of an amazing rotation this season, the Nats won’t be able to assume a good day at the plate. After posting a 4.33 ERA the first half of the season, Anderson has a 3.60 ERA since the All-Star Break, dropping his opponents’ wOBA from .339 to .272. And that includes the eight hits and six runs he allowed his last start against the Pirates.
For this matchup, I’m looking at Anderson’s 2.5 strikeouts as a low line to take the over at -150 odds on PointsBet Sportsbook. Anderson isn’t a big strikeout pitcher, but he hasn’t tossed fewer than three in any start since the break. And if there was any time to hit the over against the usually disciplined Nationals, it’s now as they’re striking out a higher rate over the last two weeks. Even before Anderson's recent string of good play, he recorded three Ks in just 3 1/3 innings against the Nats back in May.
NBC Sports Edge’s projection tool has Anderson at 4.5 strikeouts for the game, and he has a 67% hit rate on the over this season.
