In attendance for Stephen Strasburg's reintroduction to Washington after signing a record-breaking deal, fellow Nats ace Max Scherzer shared an update on injuries that plagued his 2019 season, from a stint on the Injured List to a broken nose and into the World Series.
After more MRIs on his neck and back after the Nationals won their first franchise World Series, Scherzer said "there's nothing there."
However, a "really nice hangover" lingered.
Scherzer says they did more MRIs to make sure his neck/back is good. “There’s nothing there.” So, that allowed him to move forward with his off-season program, though there was one other hurdle: “REALLY nice hangover...”— Todd Dybas (@Todd_Dybas) December 17, 2019
The Nats partied hard in celebration throughout November. Following their parade, Scherzer was spotted partying at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern, surrounded by fans and joined by his wife and Brian Dozier. That weekend, the team was honored at the Capitals' Sunday matinee vs the Flames and chugged beer throughout the game.
We all know some drinking took place before the World Series victory, perhaps worsening the inevitable hangover.
