Sean Doolittle, much like the annual cherry blossoms themselves, has made a triumphant return to the nation’s capital. On Tuesday, the Nationals and Wizards announced new collaborative cherry blossom-themed uniforms.

While the Wizards won’t be donning the new threads until next year, the Nats will be taking the field in their new jerseys beginning opening weekend vs. the New York Mets. Sean Doolittle had the same reaction to the new jerseys as many Washingtonians: glee.

Some other Nats were captured wearing the anthracite-and-pink-colored uniforms as well. Get used to seeing these fellas wearing the city edition jerseys.

Doolittle will be one of many Nats relievers who will take the mound in the new cherry blossom jerseys this season. He signed a one-year deal in mid-March to return to the club in which he played for from 2017-20. In his first stint in Washington, Doolittle became one of the team’s most reliable relievers, ultimately helping the Nationals win a World Series in 2019.

As for the jerseys, the Nationals are sparing no media attention in the unveiling and sale of the cherry blossom threads. They will be available for purchase beginning tomorrow, March 30, at the Nationals team store, MLBShop.com and neweracap.com through April 4 before hitting Nike online and select retail locations April 5, and fully online and in-store distribution on April 10. As part of the release, the famous Budweiser Clydesdales will deliver the jerseys to the Nats’ team store in Navy Yard Wednesday at 10 a.m.
