The 2017 NCAA Tournament has begun, with 68 teams vying for the college basketball national championship in 67 games. It's time for March Madness.

West Region: Thursday, 3/23. San Jose, Calif.

Recap: Sean Miller's quest for a Final Four as head coach of Arizona ended short of his goal once again thanks to a gutsy effort from the Musketeers and yet another standout performance from Trevon Bluiett. The Junior guard led all scorers with 25 points, his third straight NCAA Tournament game with at least 20 points.

But it was Sean O'Mara, who continues to play the best basketball of his career during the NCAA Tournament, who scored the deciding basket, a difficult layup with 40 seconds left to give Xavier the lead. Allonzo Trier had a look at the game-winner, but staunch defense from Xavier forced the shot to miss, propelling Chris Mack and company to the Elite Eight.

Midwest Region: Thursday, 3/23. Kansas City, Mo. 

Recap: Like it did against Arkansas Little-Rock in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, Purdue's size hurt them more than it helped them against Kansas in the Sweet Sixteen.

The smaller yet more talented Jayhawks squad averaged over 1.14 PPP against Purdue and its towering front line. Kansas led 53-51 with 15 minutes remaining in the game and decided to put on the afterburners.

Guards Frank Mason III and Devontae' Graham were red-hot from beyond the arc, as the Jayhawks finished the game on a 45-13 run. Mason and Graham led all scorers with 26 points apiece. 

West Region semi-final: Thursday, 3/23. San Jose, Cali.

Recap: There were times that nothing went right for one of the most controversial No. 1 seeds in NCAA history, but in the final two minutes nearly everything went right for Gonzaga. Four players scored in double-figures as three Bulldog starters battled foul trouble all night. Despite turning it over 16 times against one of the most unrelenting defenses in the country, Gonzaga turned it up a notch on their own defensive end. It was amplified by their last stand, preventing the Mountaineers from getting in the paint, or even getting a shot off, in the final 15 seconds of the game. Gonzaga's third time ever making the Elite Eight

Midwest Region semi-final: Thursday, 3/23. Kanas City, Mo.

Recap: Tyler Dorsey and Jordan Bell refuse to go down in this NCAA tournament. Combining for 36 points and 16 rebounds, which included a double-double for Bell (16 points, 13 rebounds) the Ducks battled through one of the most thrilling games of this NCAA Tournament. Michigan's senior guard, Derrick Walton Jr., would miss the game-winning attempt just inside the arc and Bell would secure the final rebound to end the contest. Walton's tournament ends with 56 points and 25 assists in only three games. The Ducks have now made the Elite Eight in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history. 

South Region: Sunday, 3/19. Sacramento, Cali.

Recap: LaVar Ball may not entirely be crazy when talking about his son, Lonzo Ball, and these UCLA Bruins. Facing one of the best defensive teams in the country, UCLA was 50 percent from the field and 39 percent behind the arc. Nearing tournament history, Ball was three rebounds and one assist away from a triple double, something never accomplished by a freshman. With 18 points he led all scorers and every single starter for the Bruins reached 10 points. Make it three straight Sweet 16 appearances for the Bruins.

East Region: Sunday, 3/19. Greenville, SC

Recap: South Carolina ended their regular season losing four of their last six and were falling close to the bubble. A win over Duke on Sunday night has the Gamecocks in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 1973. Five players for South Carolina reached double figures with Sindarius Thornwell leading the team for the second straight game with 24 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Through two games in the NCAA Tournament, he has accounted for 53 points. With 18 turnovers and 26 fouls, the Blue Devils took themselves out of the contest late as South Carolina recorded 65 points in the second half, outscoring Duke by 14.

East Region: Sunday, 3/19. Tulsa, Okla.

Recap: USC's magical run comes to an end. Coming all the way from the First Four, the Trojans fall a handful of points short of the Sweet Sixteen. With the Bears down two and under five minutes to go, junior Manu Lecomte, who was scoreless up to that point, went on a personal 8-0 run to put Baylor up six. He was one of four Bears that scored 12 points or more with Johnathan Motley and Terry Matson scoring 19 each. Combined both teams had 25 turnovers but shot 50 (Baylor) and 54 percent (USC) from the field. In a losing effort Chemezie Metu had a 28-point performance for the Trojans. It is Baylor's fourth ever appearance in the Sweet Sixteen.

Midwest Region: Sunday, 3/19. Sacramento, Cali.

Recap: It was a game full of runs, Rhode Island took control late in the first half thanks to a 15-2 run and then Oregon stormed right back to start the second with a run of their own, 16-6. The game ended on a 7-0 run by the Ducks. Tyler Dorsey scored the final six points of the game off of two three pointers for the Ducks. That was just the cherry on top of an outstanding performance for the sophomore guard who finished with 27 points on 9-10 shooting (4-5 from 3pt range). Only one other Duck, Dillon Brooks (19 points) scored in double figures. All night the Rams were the victim of foul calls and picked up 20 on the night allowing Oregon to get to the line 27 times. This game ended a nine-game winning streak for Rhode Island and will be the second straight Sweet Sixteen appearance for Oregon.

South Region: Sunday, 3/19. Greenville, SC.

Recap: North Carolina holds on for what would have easily been the biggest upset of the tournament this far. The Razerbacks gave the top-seeded Tar Heels nearly all they could handle as they climbed back from being down 15 points in the first half. After taking a late five point lead, Arkansas went scorless in the final three and a half minutes. Giving the Razerbacks a spark in the second half was their bench combining for over half of their team's points (33). Recording a double-double Kennedy Meeks (16 points, 11 rebounds) led the Heels on what was a considerably pour shooting night at only 38 percent. In contrast, they were able to draw 20 fouls and make 19 of their 25 free throw attempts. In their past two NCAA Tournament appearances, Arkansas has been bounced by North Carolina in the second round both times. 

Midwest Region: Sunday, 3/19. Tulsa, Okla.

Recap: After another scare for another No. 1 seed, the Jayhawks were able to handily dispose of the Spartans. As a team, Kansas shot 53 percent from the field and 40 percent from long range. Freshman guard Josh Jackson had 23 points, followed closely by Frank Mason III who had 20. Their four starting guards accounted  for 70 of the team's points. In a loss, Spartan freshman Miles Bridges had 22 -point performance to go along with eight rebounds. Kansas moves on to the Sweet Sixteen for the eighth time in the past 11 seasons. 

South Region: Sunday, 3/19. Indianapolis, Ind.

Recap: Just like the 2014 second-round matchup between Wichita State and Kentucky, this game never should have been played so early in the tournament. And just like the 2014 game between the 35-0 Shockers and the freakishly loaded Kentucky team, this one was a classic affair. Wichita State's gritty play stymied the Wildcats' elite athleticism. But a big-time play from talented freshman Bam Adebayo thwarted the Shockers' late attempt to make the Sweet Sixteen. 

Midwest Region: Sunday, 3/19. Indianapolis, Ind.

Recap: Michigan's magical March run continued thanks to 26 points from Mortiz Wagner and a strong 17-point performance from D.J. Wilson. The two underclassmen forwards were paced by senior guards Zak Irvin and Derrick Walton, each scoring in double figures. With the win, Michigan returns to the Sweet Sixteen for the third time since 2010.

Midwest Region: Saturday, 3/18. Milwaukee, Wisc.

Recap: Despite shooting 50 percent from the field, the Cyclones could not handle the Boilermakers size upfront and made just seven of their 23 attempts from beyond the arc. Purdue's massive frontcourt of Vince Edwards, Caleb Swanigan and Isaac Haas finished with 55 points and 25 rebounds.

East Region: Saturday 3/18, Orlando, Fla.

Recap: The Cavaliers scored just 17 points in the first half and went eight minutes without a field goal. That allowed the Gators to race out to a big lead, scoring 21 unanswered points. Junior Devin Robinson followed up his 24-point performance in the first round with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the victory over Virginia.

West Region: Saturday, 3/18. Salt Lake City, Utah.

Recap: The Gaels led for the majority of the first half, and after the two teams traded the lead multiple times early in the second, the Wildcats warded off Saint Mary's, escaping with a nine-point win. Lock Landale and Calvin Hermanson finished with 32 of the Gaels 60 points, but had trouble slowing down talented Finnish big-man Lauri Markannen, who finished with 16 points.

South Region: Saturday, 3/18. Milwaukee, Wisc.

Recap: Kelan Martin led the way with 19 points as the Butler Bulldogs stymied Middle Tennessee State's high octane offense. The Blue Raider scored just nine points in a 11-minute span in the middle of the game. The loss was just the Blue Raiders' second in seven games against Power Six conference schools. With the win, Butler is headed to its third Sweet Sixteen since 2010.

West Region: Saturday, 3/18. Orlando, Fla.

Recap: Xavier is headed to the Sweet 16 for the fourth time under Chris Mack thanks to an impressive offensive performance against the much bigger, more athletic Seminoles. team. Florida State had no answers for Trevon Bluiett, who led all scorers with 29 points. Four other Musketeers scored in double figures. 

West Region: Saturday, 3/18. Salt Lake City, Utah.

Recap; In just their second-ever NCAA Tournament game, the Wildcats trailed the No. 1 seed Bulldogs by 18 at halftime. But Northwestern rallied back in the second half, turning a 22-point defecit into a 5-point one. But with 4:54 remaining, head coach Chris Collins was issued a technical foul for sprinting onto the court following a questionable foul call.

Zach Collins' rejection of Derek Pardon should have been called a goaltend because Collins' hand was through the hoop. But referees missed it and Collins was livid.

The Bulldogs hung on to send to darling Wildcats back to Evanston.

East Region: Sat. 3/18. Buffalo, N.Y.

Recap: The Wisconsin Badgers were one of the most mis-seeded teams in the entire 2017 NCAA Tournament, meaning the Big Ten regular season and  conference tournament runners up had a second round date with No. 1 overall seed and defending national champion Villanova Wildcats.

The Badgers busted the brackets thanks to the play of Bronson Koenig and Nigel Hayes, who were playing in their 16th NCAA Tournament game, the most among active players. Koenig finished with 17 points, while Hayes finished with 19 points, including the game-winning basket. Donte DiVincenzo's desperation heave was off the mark and the Badgers knocked the reigning champs out of the Big Dance.

West Region: Sat. 3/18. Buffalo, N.Y.

Recap: West Virginia never trailed, and used its patented "Press Virginia" defense to keep the Fighting Irish from getting into a groove on offense.

Bonzie Colson led all scorers with 27 points, but it wasn't enough. Jevon Carter led the Mountaineers with 24 points and got help from Tariq Phillips, Elijah Macon, Esa Ahmad and Daxter Miles Jr., all of whom scored at least ten points.

South Regional: 3Friday, 3/17. Indianapolis, Ind. 

Recap: Bam Adebayo had 15 points and 18 rebounds on Friday night as Kentucky showed the new kids on their block how it's done at NCAA Tournament time, gritting out a 79-70 victory over stubborn Northern Kentucky.

South Regional: Friday, 3/17. Sacramento, Calif. 

Recap: TJ Leaf scored 23 points, Thomas Welsh added 16 and UCLA pulled away late for a 97-80 victory over scrappy Kent State on Friday night in the NCAA Tournament South Region.

East Regional: Friday, 3/17. Greenville, SC. 

Recap: Sindarius Thornwell had 29 points and 11 rebounds to help seventh-seeded South Carolina win its first NCAA Tournament game in 44 years, a 93-73 victory over Marquette to close first-round play in the East Region on Friday night.​

Midwest Regional: Friday, 3/17. Tulsa, OK. 

Recap: Nick Ward scored 19 points to help Michigan State atone for last season's early NCAA Tournament disappointment with an opening-round 78-58 victory over Miami on Friday night.​

South Regional: 3/17. Sacramento, CA. 

Recap: Troy Caupain scored 23 points, Kyle Washington added 16 and defensive-minded Cincinnati shot it way past Kansas State 75-61 Friday night in the South Region of the NCAA Tournament.

South Region:  3/17. Indianapolis, IND. 

Recap: Wichita State's high-flying offense didn't get off the ground until the closing minutes, when the Shockers played like the more tournament-experienced team and pulled away to a 64-58 victory over Dayton on Friday night.

Midwest Region: 3/17. Tulsa, OK. 

Recap: Frank Mason III scored 22 points and had eight assists as top-seeded Kansas won its opening game of the NCAA Tournament for an 11th straight year with a 100-62 victory over UC Davis on Friday night.

Midwest Region: 3/17. Sacramento, CA. 

Recap: Jeff Dowtin scored a career-high 23 points with a perfect day at the free-throw line, upstart Rhode Island answered every threat and the Rams ran right into the next round of the NCAA Tournament by stunning cold-shooting No. 6 seed Creighton 84-72 on Friday in an opener of the Midwest Region.​

South Region: Friday 3/18. Greenville, S.C.

Recap: Justin Jackson broke out of a shooting slump with 21 points to help top-seeded North Carolina roll past Texas Southern 103-64 on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament's South Region.​

East Region: Friday, 3/17. Tulsa, Okla.

Recap: The Trojans earned their 13th victory of the season after trailing by at least double-figures thanks to big shots from Bennie Boatwright and Elijah Stewart. SMU's Semi Ojeleye led all scorers with 24 points, but it was the last three of Stewart's 22 points that pushed the Trojans over the line and into the second round. 

Midwest Region: Friday, 3/17. Indianapolis, Ind. 

Recap: The Gamecocks gave the Cardinals fits in the first half, but Louisville's pressure was just too much. The Cardinals forced 14 turnovers and had four players score in double figures despite Norbertas Gigas' 30 points for Jacksonville State.

Midwest Region: Friday, 3/17. Sacramento, Calif. 

Recap: Iona got within one point midway through the first-half, but it was all Duck from then thanks to a 21-8 run. Tyler Dorsey lead all scorers with 24 points.

South Region: Friday, 3/17. Greenville, S.C.

Recap: Jaylen Barford hit the go-ahead basket with under a minute to play and a controversial foul call on Seton Hall bounced the Pirates from the tournament in a hotly contested 8/9 game. 

East Region: Friday, 3/17. Tulsa, Okla.

Recap: Baylor trailed New Mexico State by two at halftime, but turned on the jets, outscoring the Aggies by 20 points in the second half. Al Freeman led all scorers with 21 points and Johnathan Motley, Jo Lual-Acuil and Manny Lecomte combined to score 41 of the Bears' 91 points. 

Midwest Region: Friday, 3/17. Indianapolis, Ind.

Recap: The 7/10 game in the midwest region was the best tournament game to date, with the teams exchanging the lead 11 times in the first half. The Wolverines raced out to a lead in the second, and the Cowboys spent most of the second half playing catchup. A Juwan Evans buzzer-beater wasn't enough to close the four-point gap. Derrick Walton Jr.'s stellar postseason continued with a 25-point performance.

East Region: Thursday, 3/16. Buffalo, NY.

Recap: The Badgers are one of the most battle tested teams in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, and a 28-point performance from Bronson Koenig was just too much for the Hokies, who were making their first NCAA Tournament in nearly a decade.

West Region: Thursday, 3/16. Salt Lake City, Utah

Recap: It was close early, but North Dakota did not have enough bodies to run with the Wildcats, one of the deepest, most talented teams in the field. Rawle Alkins and Lauri Markkanen both scored 20 points as the Wildcats became the only team on Day 1 to score at least 100 points. 

Midwest Region: Thursday, 3/16. Milwaukee, Wisc. 

Recap: Fresh off winning the Big 12 Tournament championship, the Iowa State Cyclones looked every bit of the Final Four darkhorse many thought they could be. After taking a 13-12 lead halfway through the first half, the Cyclones never looked back, thanks in large part to Monte' Morris' near triple-double of 19 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

West Region: Thursday, 3/16. Orlando, Fla. 

Recap: Dunk City was back, but the size and athleticisim of Florida State was just took much. The Eagles had no answers for Johnathan Issac and Dwayne Bacon, the two combining for 42 of the Seminoles 86 points. 

West Region: Thursday, 3/16. Salt Lake City, Utah

Recap: In what was arguably the best game of the tournament's first full day, Saint MAry;s balanced frontcourt wore down a relentless VCU squad. Rams' guard JeQuan Lewis led all scorers with 30 points but only one other VCU player scored in double-figures. On the flipside, four of the GAels' starters scored in double-figures, led by Jock Landale's 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Calvin Hermanson, who finished with 16 points, which included a monster dunk.

Midwest Region: Thursday, 3/16. Milwaukee, Wisc.

Recap: The Boilermakers ending the Catatmount's 18-game win streak thanks to the play of forwards Vince Edwards and Caleb Swanigan, who combined to score 37 of Purdue's 80 points. The Boilermakers also got a strong showing from Carsen Edwards, Dakota Mathias and P.J. Thomopson, who combined to score 35 of the Boilermaker's 80 points.

East Region: Thursday, 3/16. Orlando, Fla. 

Recap: Many believed ETSU could pull off the upset, but Florida had other ideas. After a nipo-and-tuck first half, the gators raced out to a 12-point lead in the second half and the Buccaneers didn't have enough gas left in the tank to mount a comeback.

South Region: Thursday, 3/16. Milwaukee, Wisc.

Recap: Although it will go down as a 12-5 upset, the Blue Raiders were favored to win, and dominated the Golden Gophers for the entirety of the contest.  The win was the sixth in seven games for the Blue Raiders vs. Power 5 conference teams. Reggie Upshaw led the way with 19 points and nine rebounds, and the Blue Raiders advance to the Round of 32 for the second time in two years. 

West Region: Thursday, 3/16. Buffalo, NY.

Recap: The Bucknell Bison did better than anyone expected, handlign West Virginia's breakneck press with relative ease. But West Virginia's size and talent was too much for the Patriot League champs, and was enough to pull away for the six-point win.

West Region: Thurdsday 3/16. Orlando, Fla.

Recap: Sean O'Mara scored a season-high 18 points and star guard Trevon Bluiett scored 18 of his game-high 21 points in the second half as the Musketeers ran away from the Terrapins in the second half. Kevin Huerter led the Terps with 19 points, the first time someone other than Melo Trimble led the team in scoring for just the third time in eight games. 

East Region: Thursday, 3/16. Buffalo, NY

Recap: Mt. St. Mary's raced out to a 7-0 lead on the No. 1 overall seed and gave the Wildcats all they could handle in the first have. But Villanova's talent was too much for The Mount in the second half, and the defending national champs pulled away for the first-round victory.

West Region: Thursday, 3/16. Salt Lake City, Utah

Recap: The Northwestern Wildcats got their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory in their first-ver NCAA Tournament appearnace thanks to a late-game gaffe from Vanderbilt's Matthew Fisher-Davis. With time winding down and the Commodores up one, Fisher-Davis, thinking his team was down by a point instead of leading by a point, inexplicably fouled Bryant McIntosh. The Northwestern guard made both his foul shots, giving the Wildcats the lead. Northwestern would hang on for the win, meaning Fisher-Davis' name will forvever be remembered for a memorable March Madness gaffe.

West Region: Thursday, 3/16. Salt Lake City, Utah.

Recap: The No. 1 seed Gonzaga Bulldogs had little trouble with Mike Daum and South Dakota State. The first half was a tight affair, but the Bulldogs broke it open in the second half, led by Jordan Matthews 17 points. 

South Region: Thursday, 3/16. Milwaukee, Wisc.

Recap: Winthrop's 5-7 dynamo Keon Johnson finished with 17 points and Xavier Cooks added a game-high 23 points, but it was not enough for the Eagles against the battle-tested Bulldogs. Butler shot 49 percent from the field, led by Avery Woodson's 18 points.

East Region: Thursday, 3/16. Orlando, Fla. 

Recap: Everyone's pick to spring the 5-12 upset on Thursday gave Virginia everything they had and then more. The Seahawks led by as amny as 14 points in the first half. But London Perrantes carried the load for the Cavaliers, who held off several late salvos from UNCW to survive and advance. 

West Region: Thursday, 3/16. Buffalo, N.Y.

Recap: A late turnover and a game-winner off the rim did in the Princeton Tigers against Notre Dame. It was Princeton's first loss since December 20.

East Region: Wednesday, 3/15. Dayton, Ohio.

Recap: Southern Cal trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half. But 24 points from Benny Boatwright helped pace the Trojans en route to a thrilling comeback victory over Providence in a rematch of their 2016 NCAA Tournament game.

Midwest Region: Wednesday. 3/15. First Four. Dayton, Ohio

Recap: UC Davis junior Chima Moneke scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds en route to the Aggies' first-ever NCAA Tournament win. NC Central spent much of the second half chipping away at the Aggies' lead. With under a minute to go, and down just one point, NC Central turned the ball over, and the Aggies scored on the ensuing possession to salt the game away.

South Region: Tues. 3/14. First Four. Dayton, Ohio

Recap: No. 11 seed Kansas State (Big 12 at-large), the recipients of the final at-large bid to the 2017 NCAA Tournament, trailed just once, and got a balanced scoring output en route to a seven-point win over Wake Forest (ACC at-large).

Weseley Iwundu led the way for the Wildcats with 24 points and Kamau Stokes chipped in with 22 points. Potential NBA Draf tpick John Collins led all scorers with 26 points in the loss.

Next: No. 11 Kansas State vs. No. 6 Cincinnati 

East Region: Tues. 3/14. First Four. Dayton, Ohio

Recap: No. 16 seed Mount St. Mary's (NEC) defeated fellow No. 16-seed New Orleans (Southland) in the first game of the 2017 NCAA Tournament thanks to the 23-point performance from 5-8 guard Junior Robinson, who scored the go-ahead basket with 1:29 remaining.
