As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, many teams have missed games this season due to outbreaks on campus and in locker rooms. The Big Ten and Pac-12 both started their respective seasons late; several teams from those conferences such as Oregon (3-0) and Indiana (4-1) were left out of the top 10 despite strong starts to their schedules.
The College Football Playoff is set to begin Jan. 1, when the two semifinal games will take place before the national championship game is played Jan. 11.
