After months of back-and-forth that put the Big Ten football season in jeopardy, the 2020 campaign is set to kick off in just under two weeks.
As the season quickly approaches, the conference has begun to clarify what time opening games will be played, as well as which teams with play under the lights on Fridays in the fall.
For Maryland, the Terps will begin the season on the road at Northwestern on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be aired on the Big Ten Network. In Week 2, Mike Locksley and company will face off against Minnesota at home on Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m. ET, the Big Ten announced on Monday.
Maryland's trip to Ryan Field in Week 1 will be the first in program history. The matchup with the Golden Gophers was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 31, but has been given the Friday Night Lights treatment for the 2020 season. It's the second straight year Capital One Field at Maryland will host a Friday game, as the Terps took on Penn State in 2019.
In their last matchup against the Wildcats of Northwestern in 2017, Maryland fell by a score of 37-21. The Terps also lost their last game against Minnesota, falling 52-10 last season.
The rest of Maryland's conference-only 2020 schedule will feature home games against Michigan State, Ohio State and Rutgers as well as visits to Penn State, Indiana and Michigan. Times for those games are still TBD.
