Maryland's Jalen Smith was named to the Associated Press' All-American Third Team on Friday.

Smith is the first Terp to be named to an AP All-American team since Greivis Vasquez in 2010. Melo Trimble was named an All-American Honorable mention twice. 

The Terrapin sophomore averaged a double-double throughout the 2019-20 season. Only one other All-American selection, Udoka Azubuike from Kansas accomplished that feat.

One of the biggest differences between him and the other All-American honorees was his scoring was significantly lower than his counterparts.

Smith reached double-digit points and rebounds 21 times this year, the third-most in the NCAA. His 10.5 rebounds let the team while his 15.5 points per game were second to only Anthony Cowan Jr. 

A threat in all corners of the court, Smith at 6-foot-10 really developed his 3-point game this season. He was Maryland's best field-goal shooter (53.8%) and most-accurate deep threat (36.8%) among the regulars. 

The projected NBA Draft pick is also one of 10 players named a semifinalist for the Naismith Player of the Year Award.

This is the third major award on the season for Stix as he was already named to the First Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Defensive Team.
