VCU coach calls ‘Buckets,’ drains half-court shot at Wiz game

Mike Rhoades may have finished his playing career in 1995, but the VCU men’s basketball coach still has some impressive range.

The Wizards invited Rhoades to take a half-court shot at halftime of their game against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night. When handed the microphone, he had one word for the crowd: “Buckets.”

Rhoades hit the shot with ease and the fans at Capital One Arena went nuts. The head coach was in attendance to watch his former player Bones Hyland, a rookie on the Nuggets.

While Hyland finished the game with 17 points, six rebounds and five assists, it was Rhoades who arguably provided the biggest highlight by a Ram on Wednesday night.
