Getting a redzone stop is difficult enough. Turning the ball over into points on the other end is a completely different story.

The Fightin' Irish were about to cap off a second-quarter drive with a score inside the two yard line. But the Hokies defense had a different outcome in mind.

When Notre Dame quaterback Ian Book handed it off to Jafar Armstrong in the backfield, the Virginia Tech defense broke through the blue and gold's front line and delivered a pop that dislodged the football from Armstrong's clutches.

Luckily for Tech, cornerback Divine Deablo was at the right place at the right time.

That score was the longest such fumble recovery for any opponent playing Notre Dame, ever.

The Virginia Tech defense will need to continue to keep the Irish out of the endzone for a shot at the upset.
