West Virginia's home matchup with No. 11 Oklahoma on Saturday has been postponed, the Big 12 announced Wednesday, in the wake of the Sooners' recent COVID-19 outbreak. The game has been rescheduled for Dec. 12, the end of each team's regular-season schedule.
"I am disappointed for both teams, who have worked extremely hard in their preparation for this weekend's game," WVU Director of Athletics Shane Lyons said in a statement. "We will now look forward to honoring our seniors and hosting the Sooners on Dec 12."
The Mountaineers (5-3) are scheduled to return to the field Dec. 5 at No. 13 Iowa State (6-2).
Oklahoma football has temporarily paused team activities due to the recent positive tests and contact tracing. The program's next scheduled game is Dec. 5 against Baylor.
