Notre Dame ends season No. 1 in AP poll; Bama 2

NEW YORK (AP) Notre Dame ends the regular season as the No. 1 team in The Associated Press college football for the first time since 1988, the last championship season for the Fighting Irish.

The Irish (12-0) completed their regular season last week and will play No. 2 Alabama in the BCS championship game in Miami on Jan. 7. Notre Dame is a unanimous No. 1 for the second straight week.

The Tide holds its spot in the rankings after beating Georgia 32-28 in the Southeastern Conference title game.

Ohio State (12-0), which is banned from the postseason because of NCAA sanctions, moves up a spot to No. 3. Florida is No. 4, Oregon is fifth and Georgia fell to sixth.

Northern Illinois jumped to No. 16 after beating Kent State for the Mid-American Conference title. Kent State dropped seven spots to No. 25.

Louisville, the Big East champion, moved back into the rankings at No. 22.

No. 24 San Jose State is ranked for the first time since Nov. 24, 1975.

Texas and Oklahoma State dropped out of the rankings.

If you take a deep dive through the comments section you'll see @Easymoneysniper (Durant's Instagram handle) comment "🔥🔥🔥🔥."

For the older generation less familiar with emojis, the fire is used as a term of endearment as to say, "that's hot," or "that's cool."

Washington's QB Dwayne Haskins was the latest to comment under one of the Red Wolves concept posts with his approval.

"Not gone hold you. I can fw this," Haskins said. For those confused, that's a good thing.

Speculation could evolve into reality pretty soon as reports surfaced Saturday that an announcement of a name change could be coming in "the next few days."

No matter what the name is chosen, we're fairly certain more players will be taking to social media with their reactions.

Just a hunch.

Chase Young shares IG story that he may be the top the Top Rated Rookie in Madden 21

Washington's first round pick Chase Young has already made his mark on the football world this offseason without even playing a single snap yet -- from being selected to the Big Ten Network's All-Decade team, to defying gravity in his latest workout, Young hasn't failed to impress.

All of that hard work hasn't come without reward as it seems as though Young will be the highest rated rookie in the upcoming Madden 21 video game.

Take a look.

While this hasn't officially been announced by Madden, it honestly makes the most sense if we're being completely honest.

Young got a hold of this report and shared it on his Instagram story. It's fair to say he's happy with it.
