Baltimore Orioles Roundup: Anthony Santander sent back down to Norfolk

The Baltimore Orioles had a day off Thursday as they travel back home to take on the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend.

Here's the latest Orioles and Rays news.

Player Notes:

Baltimore returned OF Anthony Santander to Triple-A Norfolk Thursday. Santander served as the 26th man for the Orioles' double-header against the White Sox Wednesday, hitting a home run and drawing a walk in his first MLB action this season.

3B prospect Ryan Mountcastle collected four hits for Triple-A Norfolk Wednesday night. The 22-year old is now hitting .324 for the 2019 season.

Tampa Bay defeated the Royals 3-1 Thursday afternoon, closer Diego Castillo recording his fourth save in the win. Starting pitcher Charlie Morton struck out nine and allowed just one run over 6 2/3 innings but did not factor into the decision, while 2B Brandon Lowe went 2-for-4 and hit the go-ahead homer in the ninth inning.

The Rays placed RHP Hunter Wood on the 10-day IL with right shoulder soreness, recalling RHP Casey Sadler from Triple-A Durham to take Wood's place in the bullpen.

RP Richard Bleier: Shoulder, 10-Day IL

SP Nate Karns: Arm, 10-Day IL

DH Mark Trumbo: Knee, 60-Day IL

SP Alex Cobb: Back, 10-Day IL
