The Orioles dropped their third straight game, an 8-5 loss to the Athletics, Thursday afternoon. Here's the latest news surrounding the team.
Starting pitcher Dylan Bundy suffered his first loss of the season Thursday, allowing six runs on seven hits, four of them home runs, in five innings of work against Oakland. Bundy struck out eight A's, but overall it was not a good day on the mound for the 26-year old.
On the flipside, left fielder Dwight Smith Jr. had a good day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run (his first of the season), double, walk and two runs batted in. Smith is now batting .280 on the season.
Before the game, the Orioles recalled left-handed pitcher Tanner Scott and purchased the contract of right-hander Josh Lucas from Triple-A Norfolk. Both pitched in Thursday's loss, Lucas tossing two innings of one-run ball while Scott went just 1/3 of an inning, allowing two hits but no runs.
Right-handed pitching prospect Michael Baumann pitched five scoreless innings at High-A Frederick Wednesday, striking out 10 and giving up just one hit.
