Baltimore Orioles Roundup: Dylan Bundy gives up four homers in loss to Athletics

The Orioles dropped their third straight game, an 8-5 loss to the Athletics, Thursday afternoon. Here's the latest news surrounding the team.

Player Notes:

Starting pitcher Dylan Bundy suffered his first loss of the season Thursday, allowing six runs on seven hits, four of them home runs, in five innings of work against Oakland. Bundy struck out eight A's, but overall it was not a good day on the mound for the 26-year old.

On the flipside, left fielder Dwight Smith Jr. had a good day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run (his first of the season), double, walk and two runs batted in. Smith is now batting .280 on the season.

Before the game, the Orioles recalled left-handed pitcher Tanner Scott and purchased the contract of right-hander Josh Lucas from Triple-A Norfolk. Both pitched in Thursday's loss, Lucas tossing two innings of one-run ball while Scott went just 1/3 of an inning, allowing two hits but no runs.

Right-handed pitching prospect Michael Baumann pitched five scoreless innings at High-A Frederick Wednesday, striking out 10 and giving up just one hit.

The Orioles made a flurry of moves before falling to the Yankees 7-5 Wednesday night.

Here is your latest news on Baltimore and New York:

ORIOLES:

Baltimore acquired OF Keon Broxton from the Mets for international signing bonus slots. Broxton hit .143 in 34 games with New York this season before he was designated for assignment last week. The Orioles transferred RHP Alex Cobb from the 10-day IL to the 60-day IL, meaning he won't be back until late June at the earliest. Cobb has been out since April 27 with a lumbar strain. Baltimore also claimed RHP Chandler Shepherd off waivers for the Cubs and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.
