With Opening Day for the Baltimore Orioles just a week and a half away, here are the latest updates from Spring Training.
Outfielder Austin Hays has had a stellar spring with the big league club, but he was optioned Sunday to spend some time in the minor leagues to start the season. His injury and resulting struggles in 2018 led the Orioles to want to see him find regular season success before rejoining the Major League squad.
Starting rotation hopeful Mike Wright allowed four runs in five innings against the Yankees Sunday. Three of the eight hits he allowed to New York left the park, and the home runs accounted for each of the four runs he gave up.
Catcher Austin Wynns is getting closer to a return. Wynns has battled an oblique issue for much of Spring Training, but manager Brandon Hyde says he could return to action next week.
