Baltimore Orioles Roundup: Orioles swept at home by visiting Padres

In Manny Machado's highly-anticipated return, his new team bludgeoned the Orioles pitching staff, scoring eight and 10 runs in the two games, respectively. Here are the news and notes.

Player Updates:

Middle infielder Jonathan Villar crushed his 10th home run of the season into the bullpens in left-center, part of a 3-for-4 afternoon at the plate.

Catcher Pedro Severino stayed hot, going 2-for-4 with a home run of his own Wednesday afternoon. The backstop is now batting .278 with a .842 OPS in 2019.

Starting pitcher Dylan Bundy struggled against the hot bats of the Padres, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks in just four innings. He struck out four batters and allowed two more home runs, and his season ERA now sits at 4.91.

Former Oriole Manny Machado enjoyed a nice series in his return to Baltimore. The third baseman walloped a 455-foot home run in his second at-bat Tuesday, his 100th career bomb at Camden Yards. Overall, he went 3-for-8 with two runs, two RBI, and two walks in two Padres wins.

Orioles Roundup: Baltimore falls to Toronto, 8-5

The Baltimore Orioles lost the first of their penultimate home series for the season 8-5 to the Toronto Blue Jays Tuesday night. 

Here are the latest player news and notes.

Player Updates:

OF Mason Williams crashed hastily into the back wall trying to prevent a Blue Jays score in the top of the ninth. It was 2B Cavan Biggio's line drive that ended up as a two-run triple to give the Blue Jays some cushion. That triple helped Biggio complete the cycle. Austin Hays replaced Williams while he was checked for a concussion. 

X-Ray tests came back negative for DH Renato Nunez after his left hand was hit by a pitch in Monday's loss to the Tigers. He could be back Wednesday.

Orioles Roundup: Orioles top last season's win total with victory in Detroit

The Orioles beat the Tigers 6-2 in the first of a four-game set in Detroit, a series that will likely determin who comes away with the top pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.

Player Updates:

SP Aaron Brooks tossed 5.1 innings in Detroit, allowing two runs on seven hits and five walks. The starter struck failed to strike out a batter, and his ERA still sits above 6 on the season. 

OF DJ Stewart crushed his second home run of the season to increase the Orioles lead to 3-0. The former first-round pick is still hitting just .228 at the Major League level this season.
