Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle is among the top young home run hitters

MLB has a plethora of young talent that fans enjoy watching, from the Fernando Tatis Jr.'s to the Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s. However, some young players have yet to arrive towards the casual baseball fan and one of them is Baltimore Orioles' first baseman, Ryan Mountcastle.

The Baltimore Sun's Nathan Ruiz pointed out a stat that will give Oriole fans a reason to smile and make them realize the future is bright for the organization despite enduring another tough season.

Since May 7, only four players under the age of 25 have hit more home runs than Mountcastle. Guerrero Jr. (29), Tatis Jr. (26), Austin Riley (23), and Rafael Devers (22) are the only players to hit more home runs than Mountcastle.

Over a 162 game season, Mountcastle would be on pace to hit more than 40 home runs, so the first baseman is displaying the capabilities of being one of the better young home run hitters in MLB.

The 24-year-old isn't far behind his fellow peers, so it provides some perspective of Mountcastle's potential to be mentioned among the young elite talents in baseball.

Mountcastle finds himself in the middle of a 13-game hitting streak as he has a batting average of .264 with his 20 home runs and 64 RBI this season for the Orioles.
