Pagano returns as Indianapolis beats Texans 28-16

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) The Indianapolis Colts made Chuck Pagano a winner in his return to the sideline.

Andrew Luck threw for two touchdowns and Deji Karim swung the game with a 101-yard kickoff return in the third quarter, giving the Colts a 28-16 victory over Houston. It was Pagano's first game back as coach since starting treatment for leukemia Sept. 26.

Indianapolis (11-5) heads into the playoffs as the No. 5 seed and on a roll.

Slumping Houston (12-4) won't know its playoff seed until later Sunday. The Texans lost three of their last four games, and J.J. Watt failed to break Michael Strahan's single-season sacks record.

The game swung on two big plays: Karim's kickoff return, which wiped out a 16-14 Houston lead, and Luck's 70-yard TD pass to T.Y. Hilton.

A year after being sidelined with injury, Howie Kendrick earns NLCS MVP honors

In the NLDS, Howie Kendrick provided the biggest hit of the Nationals season with a series-winning grand slam in the 10th inning against the Dodgers.

Having that season, and potentially career-defining moment was already an incredible feat for the 36-year-old. But, he didn't stop there.

Going 5-for-15 with four doubles and four RBI during the Nationals four-game sweep of the Cardinals in the NLCS, Kendrick proved to be a reliable bat throughout. With that, he was awarded NLCS MVP honors.

Kendrick's 2019 postseason magic coincides in what was a great regular season for the utility man. Following an injury in 2018 that forced him to miss a majority of the season, Kendrick rebounded to bat .344 in 121 games this season.

October is where legends are made, and Howie Kendrick is the latest player to etch his name in the postseason history book.
