CSN MID-ATLANTIC TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE OF CAPITALS-MAPLE LEAFS FIRST-ROUND NHL PLAYOFF SERIES

BETHESDA, Md. – April 10, 2017 – CSN Mid-Atlantic will provide comprehensive multiplatform coverage of the Washington Capitals’ 2017 first-round playoff series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, highlighted by live coverage of the first five potential games, beginning with Game 1 on Thursday, April 13, at 7 p.m., as well as Game 7, if necessary.

CSN’s live-game coverage, along with pregame and postgame shows, will continue to be available on CSNmidatlantic.com and theNBC Sports app during the playoffs.

CSN will surround all seven potential first-round games with more than two hours of live Capitals news, analysis and commentary with one-hour editions of Caps GameTime before games and expanded postgame coverage on Caps Extra and the new Caps OvertimeExtensive Capitals coverage will also be delivered throughout the postseason across CSN’s online, mobile and social media platforms, led by CSNmidatlantic.com.

A pair of specials will begin CSN’s playoff Capitals coverage tonight and tomorrow. Caps Playoff Preview will be presented tonight(Monday, April 10) at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 11, at 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. CSNmidatlantic.com will stream coverage of Capitals practice live from Kettler Capitals Iceplex on Tuesday at 11 a.m., which will also be presented on CSN as a 30-minute special, Capitals Practice Live, at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

CSN’s multiple daily editions of Geico SportsNet Central will also provide expanded coverage of the Capitals during the playoffs. Capitals-related talk, debate and interviews will be featured on Geico SportsTalk Live each weeknight and on 106.7 The Fan’s Sports Junkies weekdays from 6 to 10 a.m.

 

LIVE GAME COVERAGE

CSN’s live coverage of the series will begin with Game 1 on Thursday, April 13, at 7 p.m. at Verizon Center. CSN will also presentGame 2 on April 15 at 7 p.m., Game 3 on April 17 at 7 p.m. and Game 4 on April 19 at 7 p.m. If necessary, CSN will also presentGame 5 on April 21 and Game 7 on April 25. Television information for Game 6 on April 23 has not been announced. Emmy Award-winning play-by-play announcer Joe Beninati, analyst Craig Laughlin and reporter Al Koken will continue to lead CSN’s live game coverage in the postseason.

GAMEDAY SHOWS

One-hour editions of Caps GameTime will lead in to every postseason matchup, with expanded versions of Caps Extra providing postgame analysis, commentary and fan interaction for at least 45 minutes. The live gameday shows will be hosted alternately by Jill Sorenson and Rob Carlin and will feature former Capitals Alan May and Brent Johnson, as well as Capitals Insider Tarik El-Bashir and other contributors and special guests.

New this postseason is Caps Overtime, which will follow Caps Extra after every game for a half hour. The high-energy, interactive format will take a fan-focused approach to covering the game’s top moments and most compelling storylines. Caps Overtime will feature a rotating group of personalities and insiders, including Courtney Laughlin and 106.7 the Fan’s Grant Paulsen.

Starting now, fans anywhere in the U.S. can download MyTeams for free on iOS and Android devices in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

MyTeams’ innovative design features individual feeds for each team. Fans select their favorite team or teams, with no limit, in order of preference, to create a customized content offering that matches their passions, priorities and interests. MyTeams’ robust complement of live and on-demand video, podcasts and written content gives fans a single source to easily find, access and consume all of the coverage that matters most to them – including live games in the market where they subscribe, news, entertainment, analysis, commentary and more. NEW FEATURE SHOWS TO PROVIDE IN-DEPTH STORYTELLING AND INSIDE ACCESS

BETHESDA, Md. (Sept. 27, 2017) – CSN Mid-Atlantic, which will become NBC Sports Washington on Oct. 2, and the Washington Wizards have announced the team’s 75-game regional television schedule for the 2017-18 NBA season, which features 72 regular-season games and three preseason contests. As previously announced, ABC, ESPN and TNT will combine to present national coverage of 18 Wizards games, 10 exclusively, this season.

LIVE-GAME COVERAGE
CSN’s live Wizards coverage, which will continue to be available to stream live on CSNmidatlantic.com and the NBC Sports app, will begin with the second preseason game against New York on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. and will include three of the team’s five exhibition games. Monumental Sports Network will stream live coverage of the Oct. 2 preseason opener against the Guangzhou Long-Lions, a team from the Chinese Basketball Association, beginning at 7 p.m. as well as the Oct. 11 game against the Miami Heat, which tips-off at 7:30 p.m. The Network also will simulcast CSN’s live coverage of the Oct. 8 preseason game against the Cleveland Cavaliers at 3 p.m. CSN’s regular-season schedule will start Oct. 20 when the Wizards host the Detroit Pistons at 7p.m.

CSN’s live coverage will be led by play-by-play announcer Steve Buckhantz, game analyst Kara Lawson, and courtside reporter Chris Miller

GAMEDAY PROGRAMMING
This season, CSN will expand its gameday coverage to include 2.5 hours of live Wizards news, analysis, commentary and entertainment with a pair of new shows. Wizards HangTime will be presented for a half hour leading into pregame show Wizards GameTime. After games, Wizards Overtime will extend postgame coverage for up to an hour following Wizards Extra. The new shows will be fan-focused, allowing Wizards fans to participate in coverage of the day’s most compelling topics and storylines. 

Led by Julie Donaldson and Tony Massenburg, Wizards GameTime and Wizards Extra will include analysis from Phil Chenier, Drew Gooden, Buckhantz, Lawson and Miller. Wizards HangTime and Wizards Overtime will be moderated by Travis Thomas and will feature a panel of rotating contributors, including Chase Hughes

MULTIPLATFORM CONTENT
CSN’s coverage this season will be greatly expanded across every platform throughout the day. CSN’s website, mobile app and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat, will serve fan-focused video, audio, editorial and interactive content through every day-part. In the morning, the podcast Wizards Tipoff will join Wake Up Call, a short-form interactive Wizards experience delivered via alerts, social media and email that will provide “on-the-go” content on multiple platforms throughout the day.

CSN’s digital media properties, including CSNmidatlantic.com and the CSN Mid-Atlantic mobile app, will also be rebranded under the NBC Sports Washington name on Oct. 2. FEATURE SHOWS
In addition to expanded game-day and multiplatform content, CSN will also deliver more Wizards-related feature programming this season. These specials, presented primarily on non-game days, aim to keep fans engaged with behind-the scenes coverage of the team and players with a focus on storytelling and will include new programs like 1-on-1 with Chris Miller and The Hoops Wizards.

1-on-1 with Chris Miller goes inside the baseline with the biggest names in Washington basketball, featuring behind-the-scenes access and one-on-one interviews with top players, coaches and key members of the organization.

The Hoops Wizards features former University of Maryland teammates Walt Williams and Massenburg, who combined to play 24 years in the NBA. Now these two legends are sharing the real stories about yesterday, today and what the future looks like in the Association. It will feature former teammates, current Wizards and local fans as Williams and Massenburg breakdown the Washington basketball scene.
