OWINGS MILLS, Md. — John Harbaugh would be surprised if Earl Thomas gets a talking to from the NFL this week.

At his Monday press conference, Harbaugh reiterated that he saw a clean hit from Thomas, just with an unfortunate result. He’s still unsure, but he’s not expecting Thomas to hear from the league.

“It would surprise me, based on what’s on the tape, in all honesty,” Harbaugh said. “But I don’t know what to expect. I’m probably not a real good predictor of that.”

Rudolph was knocked unconscious after Thomas laid a vicious hit on Rudolph, which caught him in the chin. After several minutes on the ground, Rudolph was helped to his feet and led off the field.

“It’s just an unfortunate collision, he ticked his chin, that’s what happened,” Harbaugh said. “He tried to get out of there, he felt bad about it, the result of it.”

Thomas said he hopes he’s not suspended or fined but will have to see from the league.

Both Thomas and Harbaugh said it was an unfortunate collision.

“After seeing it on tape, I think it’s pretty clear,” Harbaugh said. “I think it’s very clear, actually.”
