Robert Griffin III posted to Twitter on Thursday morning with the statement of: “Games are not more important than justice."
His tweet, which came before the Ravens’ Thursday morning practice, came the day after the Milwaukee Bucks decided to strike Wednesday and not play their playoff game against the Orlando Magic. The rest of the NBA followed.
The Ravens postponed their post-practice media availability with the team’s three coordinators as well.
Three Major League Baseball games were also postponed, all in the aftermath of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Blake’s lawyers say he was paralyzed by a bullet that damaged his spinal cord in the shooting. Blake was shot seven times in the back on Sunday.
The Ravens decided to practice this morning, but cancelled all meetings in the afternoon to “discuss and work on a plan for continued social justice reform efforts.”
